THE MARRIAGE LICENSE

In California, every couple is required to obtain a valid marriage license before their wedding day. The rules and regulations for obtaining a marriage license vary based on the state where you reside, so it is important to contact your local registrar's office to learn more about the requirements for your area.

You will need a valid marriage license regardless of whether you are planning an in-person ceremony, an intimate elopement or a virtual zoom ceremony. We recommend that our couples apply for a marriage license at least 4 weeks in advance of their wedding. Most marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.

DON'T FORGET! Make sure you bring your marriage license on your wedding day- we cannot legally marry you if your license is not physically present before we begin your ceremony.

We are wedding professionals and marriage license experts and we are here to guide you through this process.

THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

After your wedding ceremony is complete, we will finalize the marriage license and file it on your behalf to the appropriate registrar's office in order to be verified and processed into the public records (legally we have 10 days to file your license, but we file it the next business day after your ceremony).
Following your wedding, we will reach out to you, providing the next steps on how to verify that your marriage certificate is ready to be ordered. Please remember, it is your responsibility to obtain a copy of this important vital record.
We always recommend that our couples acquire two copies of their marriage certificate.
